Tom Callahan
Interim President & CEO
Tom currently serves as Interim President and CEO of One Neighborhood Builders. He is an experienced and versatile leader who has consistently helped the organizations and communities he serves achieve strategic results.
With more than 35 years of experience in Washington DC, St. Louis, Connecticut and Rhode Island, Tom has frequently aligned and coalesced diverse interests to pursue and accomplish critical public policy objectives. He is also a proven administrator who has led and managed talented teams in public, corporate, and non-profit organizations.
From 1995 to 2016, Tom served in several key leadership roles during the University of Connecticut’s transformation to a nationally ranked top 20 public research university fueled by a historic $4 billion state capital investment program. Immediately prior to his work at UConn, Tom led Aetna Life and Casualty Company’s and Foundation’s philanthropic and social investment programs that financed affordable housing and community economic development projects across the country and in its then Hartford headquarters community. He also led the Coro Foundation’s civic leadership development programs in St. Louis and served briefly as Rhode Island’s first Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
Tom received a masters degree in justice administration from American University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island. He was also a Coro Foundation Fellow in Public Affairs in 1978. He resides in Narragansett, Rhode Island where he also currently serves on the town’s Planning Board.
