ONE Central Providence

One Neighborhood Builders focuses our place-based, comprehensive community development efforts in the 02908 and 02909 ZIP codes of Central Providence, along with communities across Rhode Island.

“ONE Central Providence” convenes Central Providence Opportunities: A Health Equity Zone (CPO-HEZ) and leads the implementation the Central Providence Roadmap, a 10-year vision for collective community impact. By serving as the backbone of CPO-HEZ, ONE Central Providence brings to bear the community development expertise and strong administration of One Neighborhood Builders while providing a neutral entity for the purposes of convening and resource development.

Central Providence Opportunities: A Health Equity Zone (CPO-HEZ)

CPO-HEZ is a place-based comprehensive initiative aimed at increasing economic mobility and health equity across nine neighborhoods in Central Providence.

VISION

Our vision is that all residents of Central Providence will live healthy, stable lives and be empowered to impact the conditions in their community.

THEORY OF CHANGE

If CPO-HEZ invests operational, financial, and political capital into efforts that meet residents’ foundational needs, increases access to drivers of mobility, and builds local power and capacity, then the conditions that drive health and economic disparities will improve.

What is a Health Equity Zone?

Rhode Island’s Health Equity Zone initiative is an innovative, place-based approach that brings communities together to build the infrastructure needed to achieve healthy, systemic changes at the local level. Health Equity Zones are geographic areas where existing opportunities emerge and investments are made to address differences in health outcomes.

Visit the Rhode Island Department of Health for more information on Health Equity Zones.

Stay Informed!

CPO-HEZ is open to everyone. We meet six times a year to share resources, make connections, and identify needs in the community to work toward solutions. In between CPO-HEZ Collaborative meetings, resources and updates are shared through the CPO-HEZ Newsletter.
