The organization has the funds to order appliances and a few elevators. Elevators already take a long time to be delivered following an order, but the hope is ordering now locks in a lower price, since so much of the material cost is steel. Because elevators take so long to get delivered, it’s the first thing that gets ordered.
Normally the organization does not purchase things like appliances so far in advance, but they have the funds now, which should save them some money, Bleau said.
The organization broke ground on a 39-unit income-restricted apartment complex on Atwells Avenue in July 2024. That project is combined with the renovation of 46 apartments.”
