CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — Builders and politicians celebrated the groundbreaking a new affordable housing development in Central Falls Friday morning.
“Broad Street Homes,” located next to Central Falls City Hall, will be built on the site of an old Dunkin Donuts.
The project will cost developers One Neighborhood Builders upwards of $26 million to build, which was secured partly through a federal earmark.
When completed, the four-story building will include 46 housing units for low-income families in Central Falls.
“We need housing. Every time my office gets calls from individuals, they’re looking for housing. We know that the price right now of rent is almost unaffordable, so we have to make sure that we continue to build more housing,” Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos said
