R.I. Medicaid Renewals

Starting April 1, 2023, the continuous enrollment of Medicaid benefits, which was extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will end. Prior to the pandemic, those enrolled in Medicaid underwent an eligibility review once annually, known as “Renewal” or “Redetermination.” In 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declared a public health emergency due to the pandemic, enabling states to allow Medicaid beneficiaries to continue receiving benefits without going through the annual renewal process.

To comply with Federal requirements, every person receiving Medicaid benefits will need to undergo eligibility redetermination starting from April 1 and continuing over the next year.
