Providence, R.I. — April 2, 2021 — ONE Neighborhood Builders, a community development leader in Rhode Island, has named Kate Bramson as Director of Policy, Fundraising, and Communications. The newly created position recognizes the importance of all three elements in advancing the organization’s mission, which is to develop affordable housing and engage neighbors across Greater Providence to cultivate healthy, vibrant, and safe communities.
Jennifer Hawkins, Executive Director of ONE|NB, said Bramson is an ideal match for the nonprofit in Providence’s Olneyville neighborhood.
“I’m so pleased to welcome Kate to ONE|NB. We value her public policy experience, her research and writing skills, and her analysis of the critical issues facing Rhode Island. In addition, Kate connects us with a wide network from the state’s business, government, and nonprofit sectors,” Hawkins said. “She is uniquely poised to help us achieve our mission and advance our strategic direction.”
Bramson will be responsible for advancing policies to support the community development field; directing external communications about ONE|NB initiatives; and overseeing fundraising from foundations, corporations, governmental agencies, and individuals.
Bramson transitioned from an award-winning journalism career into public policy in 2018, when she became Policy Director for the Rhode Island Senate. There, she led a team of policy analysts who researched and wrote legislation and worked with Senators to develop health care, housing, education, workforce-training, environmental, and education initiatives. Previously, Kate worked as the economic-development reporter for The Providence Journal, where she covered development of the former I-195 land in Providence, the business community, and efforts to rebuild the economy after the Great Recession.
“I’m thrilled to join ONE Neighborhood Builders. The organization is a well-regarded nonprofit with a team of dedicated professionals who understand the importance of working at the intersection of housing and health care,” Bramson said. “ONE|NB truly recognizes that such strategic work offers great promise to improve the neighborhood’s economic trajectory.”
