The Lumina District, named to pay tribute to the location’s rich lightbulb, lighting, and glass manufacturing legacy,  is an innovative vision for a block of Central Falls that has been a source of economic opportunity and employment for the last century. This transformative development will include a diverse mix of housing to meet the needs of the community. The project features 35 one-bedroom units, 31 two-bedroom units, and 10 three-bedroom units. Of these, 40 units will be affordable, ranging from 30% to 120% of Area Median Income (AMI), while 36 units will be market rate.

In addition to more safe and affordable housing, The Lumina District will create quality jobs for Central Falls residents; workforce training opportunities; green spaces and increased community climate resiliency; streetscape improvements that promote connectivity and implement Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles (CPTED); and improved quality of life for all residents.

The development will have a transformative impact on the surrounding community of Central Falls. The Lumina District will increase property values, create new employment opportunities, and generate new revenue for local businesses, the proposed development has the potential to help Central Falls strengthen its vitality, continue local economic growth, and meet community needs.

An Enhanced Commercial Corridor

 

With more than 20,000 square feet of commercial tenancy included, The Lumina District will attract multiple commercial tenants to the space, creating economic activity and providing needed resources for the community. The design and renovation of the ground floor commercial spaces will activate the streetscape with safe and vibrant commercial uses, creating a destination hub for the community, and drawing residents from neighboring cities, adding opportunity for new economic growth in Central Falls.
