Stephanie is our community organizer. A first-generation Cabo Verdean-American native to Providence, Stephanie is a creative with a passion for pursuing Black equity through art and mindfulness. As a formerly incarcerated author/illustrator, public speaker, and mindfulness-based emotional intelligence (MBEI) educator, she was able to develop a nonviolence curriculum for Providence students in third through fifth grades, through her work as an AmeriCorps Volunteer with the Choose Peace program at The Nonviolence Institute.
After completing progressive leadership training with New Leaders Council RI class of 2019, Stephanie went on to serve as curriculum co-chair and selections co-chair for the classes of 2020 and 2021, respectively, on the Board of Directors. She also served as Lobbyist and Media Fellow for The Womxn’s Project, advocating for equitable access to reproductive health care. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her son exploring all the natural wonders that The Ocean State has to offer.
