Kate is our director of policy, fundraising, and communications. She brings 25 years of experience as a journalist, including her most recent work as the economic development reporter for The Providence Journal, and three years of experience as policy director for the Rhode Island Senate. She has researched and analyzed public policy and its impact on local communities throughout her journalism career, in Rhode Island, Minnesota, Hungary, France, Florida, and Illinois. With the Senate, she convened stakeholders, proposed policy initiatives, directed a team of policy analysts, and wrote legislation intended to improve the state’s economic trajectory.
Kate recognizes that we can have the most impact and inspire the most change when our work centers on the most pressing issues facing society. She is eager to elevate the mission of ONE Neighborhood Builders through policy research, fundraising efforts, and communicating to a broad audience about our mission of developing affordable housing and engaging neighbors across Greater Providence to cultivate healthy, vibrant, and safe communities.
Kate earned her bachelor of science in journalism, with concentrations in sociology, French, and Russian, from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. She and her husband live in Providence with their two teenagers.
