Jaya began her career working for Plan International USA, based in Warwick. Driven by a strong sense of social justice and equity, Jaya has worked in community-based development for international organizations for over 20 years in senior level management positions in the Americas, India, and the US. She has worked for the rights and inclusion of marginalized populations such as indigenous populations, youth, people with disabilities, and women by mentoring and promoting local leaders. She led inclusive participatory processes that informed the design and delivery of programs and policies across the sectors of health, education, economic strengthening and governance. This led to more impactful programs for persistently poor and marginalized populations including economic strengthening and bi-lingual early education. Multi-stakeholder partnerships with all levels of government, corporations, UN Agencies and academics ensured the sustainability, impact and funding of these programs. Jaya is also fluent in Spanish and has conversational Bengali skills.
