Two new affordable housing developments have been remodeled and are ready to welcome tenants in Providence.
ONE Neighborhood Builders, which is a non-profit organization, announced plans to rehabilitate “formerly dilapidated dwellings” on Delaine Street, as well as a modular-style development on Bowdoin Street.
Joined by city and state officials, the non-profit held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday morning, saying both sites offer 17 new apartments for low-income families in the Olneyville neighborhood.
“These small developments have an outsized neighborhood impact,” Jennifer Hawkins, who is the president and executive director of ONE Neighborhood Builders, said at the event.
Bowdoin Street Rowhouse is a multi-family development that includes nine apartments, which have already been leased.
The site has one, two, three, and four bedroom units.
There are a range of prices, depending on the income eligibility of the household, and some apartments were reserved for people with extremely low incomes.
“We have a waitlist of over 500 families for all of our apartments,” Hawkins said, adding that the non-profit owns 445 apartments.
