This NeighborWorks week, we’re celebrating the collective impact of NeighborWorks America’s member organizations and our shared commitment to building strong, vibrant communities. As a proud member of the NeighborWorks network, One Neighborhood Builders is thrilled to embrace this year’s theme of Creating Homes, Building America.

To us, this theme is about more than just increasing access to housing in our communities. It’s about strengthening neighborhoods through thoughtful investments rooted in equity and bolstering economic resilience. At One Neighborhood Builders, we embody this theme through our work every day.

From pre-development to completion, our housing developments reflect our commitment to the ideals of Creating Homes, Building America by capitalizing on organizational partnerships, collaborating with local, state, and federal stakeholders, and promoting local economic growth. To showcase this commitment, we’re highlighting three of our developments to illustrate how our mission comes to life in different ways.

Center City Apartments will bring 144 new, affordable apartments to the city of East Providence. Approximately 40% of the apartments at Center City Apartments will be designated as Permanent Supportive Housing for individuals and families who are experiencing, or at the highest risk of, homelessness. These high-quality, service-enriched homes will be supported through a unique partnership with Crossroads Rhode Island, Family Service of Rhode Island, and Foster Forward, who will all have on-site offices within Center City Apartments.

This project reflects how One Neighborhood Builders works to bring together the right partners to advance developments that meet the needs of residents.

Broad Street Homes is our most recent development to break ground. Located in the heart of Central Falls, Broad Street Homes will bring 46 affordable apartments to the city. This development features new construction on a blighted lot at 524 Broad Street and the renovation of the former police station at 511 Broad Street. All apartments will be reserved for residents making less than 60% of the area median income.

Broad Street Homes is our first development in Central Falls, a result of a strategic partnership with Mayor Maria Rivera and her administration, who identified the project sites through the city’s Housing Task Force and brought in One Neighborhood Builders to bring the vision to life. Broad Street Homes also received support from both state and federal levels, securing a RIHousing First Mortgage and a congressional appropriation from Senator Jack Reed’s office, making this development a powerful example of local, state, and federal partnerships collaborating to make affordable housing possible.

The Avenue is an 85-unit affordable housing development featuring 39 newly constructed units on the iconic commercial neighborhood of Federal Hill, combined with the revitalization of 46 scattered apartments in the Elmwood neighborhood of Providence. The Avenue also features the development of over 3,000 square feet of commercial space.

This development showcases our commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities while also supporting local economic growth and strengthening neighborhood vitality. The commercial space along Atwells Avenue will bring new business opportunities to the vibrant neighborhood, providing services and jobs that directly benefit residents.

The Avenue is well into construction with the foundation laid and the vertical framework in place. As The Avenue moves closer to completion, it stands as a tangible example of our mission in action, creating affordable homes and vibrant, connected communities.

Together, Center City Apartments, Broad Street Homes, and The Avenue show how One Neighborhood Builders is putting the ideals of Creating Homes, Building America into action. Whether in early planning, active construction, or nearing completion, these developments demonstrate our ability to lead with intention, scale our impact, and collaborate closely across sectors.
